Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology NHS Foundation Trust

Into the future

Life has changed dramatically since the early days of the hospital in 1958.

Today Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology can boast a staff of 860 dedicated people providing a service for patients and their families that is second to none. The Centre has repeated requests for visits from the UK and beyond, and through presentations, publications and teaching, is extending its influence ever wider.

Cancer services remain at the forefront of our nation's health agenda. As new treatments and new discoveries are made, Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology will develop and grow as one of the front-runners in the treatment of cancer and the care support of those affected by it.

Our plans for the future include developing more services closer to the homes of our patients and the communities that we serve. In February 2011 we opened the first satellite radiotherapy centre in Liverpool – Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Liverpool. The new treatment centre brings Clatterbridge’s expert radiotherapy treatments closer to cancer patients in Liverpool for the first time. The purpose built facility offers suitable cancer patients living north of the River Mersey more convenient access to treatment - supporting calls from the Government and cancer charities to deliver cancer treatments ‘closer to home’. And in March 2011 we opened a new off-site chemotherapy unit to bring cancer treatment closer to patients’ homes. We now deliver chemotherapy treatment at seven off-site clinics across the region – the most comprehensive network of chemotherapy clinics in the UK.
