Fundraising memorial match raises funds for satellite centre

Thousands of football fans poured into Anfield on Thursday 14th May to watch Liverpool legends take on a team of celebrities.

More than 20,000 supporters were at the match organised by the Marina Dalglish Appeal to help raise funds towards Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology’s radiotherapy centre in Liverpool .

The new £17M purpose-built facility ‘Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool ’ will be situated next to The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Marina Dalglish Appeal has pledged to raise £5M towards the development.

The new centre will be staffed and operated by specialists from Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology and will mean patients from Liverpool will not have to travel to Wirral for treatment.

The final score on the night was Liverpool Legends 3 – All Stars 1
