Information for outpatients

Patients are seen in the outpatient department for their first visit before any investigations or treatment, and also for follow-up appointments once any treatment or investigations have been completed.

The outpatient clinics, held at the Centre Monday to Friday, tend to be very busy, seeing over 11,000 patients per year. All clinics have a consultant-led team of doctors and trained nurses.
New patients that have been referred to the Centre from other hospitals and GPs will discuss treatment options and other issues at their initial appointment, so we recommend that you bring a family member, friend or carer with you on this occasion.

The outpatient department can arrange access to clinical nurse specialists and external services such as benefits advisors and social workers, if required, and also takes responsibility for liaising with GPs, hospitals, hospices and all relevant agencies during your treatment.
