The Marina Dalglish Centre
The Marina Dalglish Centre is based at Aintree University Hospitals
The state-of-the-art centre was opened in June 2007 thanks to the generous support of The Marina Dalglish Appeal. Marina was successfully treated for breast cancer at Aintree and The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in 2004 and went on to raise more than £1.5 million to supplement cancer services in the region. The new centre is a transformation of the former Special Care Baby Unit on the 5th floor (wards 1-4).
The Centre offers 16 treatment bays equipped with special reclining armchairs so patients can receive treatment in maximum comfort. There is also a complementary therapy area.
The Centre has a range of consulting rooms, staff rooms, a chemotherapy preparation room and a phlebotomy room.
The Marina Dalglish Appeal went on to support a further Clatterbridge development on the Aintree site by donating £3.2 million towards a new radiotherapy centre adjacent to The Walton Centre.
