Diagnostic Imaging
The Diagnostic Imaging department has a range of modern, specialised imaging equipment that create pictures of the structures and activities inside your body.

These include a new 64 slice CT scanner, a 1.5 tesla MRI scanner, a Nuclear Medicine Gamma Camera, as well as general x-ray and an ultrasound scanner.
We provide an essential service to the Trust, imaging patients at various stages of their treatment and follow-up, and also provide non oncology work on behalf of other trusts and the local Primary Care Trust.
The range of equipment we have means we can undertake the most appropriate scan for every patient referral. Certain tests involve using x-rays but, to ensure safety, the lowest radiation dose needed for the scan/ x-ray is always given.
